Meet our Administrators:

I am a graduate of Hofstra University where I received my BS in Marketing in 1978. Returning to college I added my NYS teaching certificate followed by my masters degree in secondary mathematics from Long Island University. My masters degree in educational administration was completed in 2010 from the University of South Carolina.
I am very fortunate and excited to lead the Mustang family at Bluffton Middle School.  Over the past 5 years a solid foundation has been established affording BLMS students the opportunity for achievement and success.  My intention is to create and maintain a school climate/culture for all stakeholders that is conducive to student learning, continued growth, and academic success. I began my teaching career in New York in 1985 and moved to South Carolina in 1995 where I taught middle school math at Hilton Head Middle School.  I transitioned to BLMS with 26 years of education experience, 18 years as a middle school math teacher with concentrations in GT, ESOL, and SPED inclusion.  After teaching I served as an instructional coach and assistant principal at HHIMS.  I have devoted my career to the middle school child.  I believe in their ability to learn and grow during the critical years they spend in the “middle”.

Ms. Patricia Freda, Principal

My name is Dr. Bournias and I have been in the field of education for over 26 years.

My career began in Virginia as a middle school teacher, teaching ELA, Math, Social Studies, and Study Skills. I attended Roanoke College - BA in Elementary Education,     Rutgers University - Masters in Educational Administration, and Seton Hall - EdD in Educational Research and Administration Certified as an Administrator Grades K-12.
In 2006, my husband and I moved to South Carolina and I was hired as an assistant principal at Hilton Head IB Elementary School. I remained at IB until 2010, when I was hired as the assistant principal at Bluffton Middle School. I was fortunate to be able to help open Bluffton Middle School and am proud to be a Mustang!

Dr. Beth Bournias, Assistant Principal

After graduating college in 1989 I worked in business for 7 years.  I began teaching for the NYC Board of Education in 1996 before moving to Beaufort County in 1999.  I was a Social
Studies teacher at Hilton Head Island High School for 13 years.  While at HHIHS I also coached baseball.  In the fall of 2012 I joined the Mustang family at Bluffton Middle School as an assistant principal.
