Special Education

Bluffton Middle School Special Education Department meets the individual needs of students  in grades 6-8th who are eligible for special education and related services according to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

A full continuum of services are available depending on the specific needs of the student. The Special Education Department also supports students with disabilities appropriately in accessing grade-level standards, and provides specialized instruction as determined necessary by the individualized education plan (IEP).

Teachers provide direct supplemental support services either by co-teaching in ELA and Math content areas, or Study Skills classes by grade level.

Teachers provide direct intensive support services by teaching grade level content for all 4 subject areas.

Bluffton Middle School prides itself on its collaborative team approach on behalf of all students with disabilities.

Addressing the unique learning needs of our students by implementing individualized, research- based practices to prepare students for high school is the goal of our department.
