Students are not permitted to carry any medications on their person, back pack, purses at school at any time. This includes all over the counter medications such as Midol, Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Allergy Medications etc. Specific prescription emergency medications like an Inhaler or Epi Pen may be carried with Doctor and District approval with appropriate signed medication permission forms on file.
Over the counter medication such as Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Orajel, Tums, Caladryl, Cough and Throat Lozenges can only be administered by the school nurse if parent consent is on file. The nurse can’t administer Allergy medications, cold medications etc. These medications should be taken at home before arriving to school.
Students that require daily prescription medications during school hours, or as needed prescription medications such as Inhalers, Epi Pens, Migraine Headache medications, Seizure medications, need to be delivered by the parent to the school nurse with the medication permission form signed by parent and the doctor, the unexpired medication in the actual prescription box or container with student name, medication name, dosage, purpose of medication, time of day or when to be given, any special instructions or medical orders. The Medication Permission Form is available at the school and on the BCSD Website.
