BLUFFTON MIDDLE SCHOOL – BACK TO SCHOOL

 

2019-2020 START-END TIMES

The first day of school for students will be Monday, August 19th.   Classes will begin each morning at 8:40 a.m., and our doors will open each morning at 8:15 a.m.  Please do not drop-off students before 8:15 a.m. Before-school care (7:15 - 8:15 a.m.) is available at $5 per week, and interested parents should call the school office at 843-707-0700.  Students will be dismissed each afternoon at 3:45 p.m. Students must be picked up no later than 4:00 p.m.

BEFORE-SCHOOL CARE PROGRAM

Our Before School Care Program will continue this year.  It begins at 7:15 a.m. before the start of the school instructional day and ends promptly at 8:15 a.m.  There is a $20.00 registration fee and a $1.00 per day charge per student.  Monthly payments preferred.  Only registered students may attend.  Registration packets are available in the main office or our website.  

AFTER-SCHOOL CARE PROGRAM (*NEW THIS YEAR!*)

Our After School Care Program will begin this year.  We have heard your voice and see the need to offer a daily program that gives parents the option for affordable care in a safe environment.  It begins at 3:45 p.m. at the end of the instructional school day and ends promptly at 6:00 p.m.  There is a $20.00 registration fee and an $11.00 per day charge per student.  Weekly or monthly payments preferred.  Only registered students may attend.  Registration packets are available in the main office or our website.  

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Please read the Bluffton Middle School Mustang Messenger newsletter posted on our website at https://blms.beaufortschools.net .  It is posted weekly on the school website.  Visit the district website to sign up for text messaging!  In order to participate in this service, you must indicate your willingness to receive text messages to your phone.  The process is simple and only takes a few seconds to complete. Simply text any one of the following words: subscribeoption, or yes, to this number 68453.  You’ll know you were successful if you receive the following reply from School Messenger: You are registered to receive approx 3 msgs/mo. Txt STOP to quit, HELP for help.  You’ll want to repeat the opt-in process for any wireless numbers that you wish to include.

SCHOOL MEALS – NEW LUNCH PRICES

Lunch prices for the 2019-2020 have been approved by the school board and are as follows: 

  • Reduced breakfast - .30¢, full paid breakfast - $1.00, all schools.
  • Lunch cost $2.25 for middle and high school.

There are two options to make prepayments to your student’s lunch account:

  • Prepay funds to the Cashier in the Lunch Room
  • Prepay funds online at www.paypams.com

 

Effective June 1, The cost of each online transaction (www.paypmas.com) will be $1.95 and will be deducted from the prepayment.  There are no fees associated with payments made in the Lunch Room.

INFOSNAP It is being replaced by PowerSchool Registration (not to be confused with Parent Portal PowerSchool Access)

All students will need to register on the Beaufort County School District’s online student registration system for the 2019-2020 academic year.   Parents will receive their INFOSNAP LOGIN via email by the end of week of July 12th.   Please check for the email.  Proof of Residency  bring a copy of the documents into the school office.    Your School Registration will be complete after you submit the following items:

  • Completed Infosnap Registration
  • Proof of Residency brought to the main office
  • 1:1 Technology Agreement signed by student (located in the BLMS office, BLMS website or the district website).
  • $20.00 Technology Fee paid through the BLMS website (OPS) or cash/check submitted to the main office

The above four items must be completed before students are issued a tablet.   All these requirements can be handled at BLMS on Thursday, August 15 during Mustang Startup.  The Connect to Learn Handbook is located on our website.  Looking forward to a great 2019-2020 school year!

 

BUS ASSIGNMENTS AND ROUTES

These will be posted in the local newspaper and on the district website usually the week before school starts. 

STUDENT AGENDA BOOKS

Every student will receive an agenda book when school starts.  Additional agenda books can be purchased for $5.00 in the school office. 

SCHOOL SUPPLY LIST

Suggested School supply lists are available on the district website.

CLUBS

Students can sign up for clubs during Mustang Startup on Thursday, August 15 or when school begins.  Listen to daily announcements, and read the Mustang Messenger for club listings and start up dates.

FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH FORMS

Forms must be completed each and every school year.  Parents only need to complete one form for the family.  Forms are included in the Infosnap registration and online at www.paypams.com/onlineapp

UNIFORM POLICY

Please check out our website for the complete uniform policy. 

                       Bottoms:             Black or khaki colored

                       Tops:                    White, gray, black, pink or maroon

                        Materials:           Cotton or twill

SUMMER READING

Read one book from the suggested BLMS reading list or BCSD Overdrive eBook system.  Books will be available this summer for sign-out in the BLMS office or the Bluffton Public Library.  Students will complete an assignment when they return to school.

TDAP VACCINE

7th grade students are required to have one dose of the Tdap vaccine prior to starting school on Monday, August 19th.  Please provide proof of this vaccine to our nurse.  Our school fax number is 843-707-8117.

 STUDENT LOCKERS
Lockers will be assigned by teachers after school starts.
